Let's talk screws. Drywall Screws (in picture) are for screwing in drywall, Wood Screws for wood, and Sheet Metal Screws for sheet metal. Machine screws (with nuts) are for fastening components.

It is always best to follow manufacturer's instructions, especially on a garage door opener!
