10 Things This Inspector Wants You to Know

  1. I can't inspect what I can't see.

  2. I don't move furniture.

  3. You need to test all of the smoke/carbon monoxide detectors upon occupancy.

  4. I am not allowed to turn on/off valves of any sort in a non-emergency situation.

  5. Downspouts need to extend a minimum 4 feet from the foundation..

  6. Anything can go down the sewer at anytime. A sewer scope is priceless.

  7. Vegetation next to the foundation is a high risk for damage and costly repairs.

  8. A small leak can cost thousands in a short period of time.

  9. There is no such thing as just a health and safety inspection. I am accountable for all of the property concerns that I can see at the time of the inspection.

  10. I need more than 2 hours to inspect and document the findings of the property.
